WORKING AT CONSTRUCTION

A steel erector is essential in building projects, responsible for assembling and placing the structural framework. They follow blueprints closely to ensure accurate installation of steel beams and columns, setting the foundation for further construction work.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine project requirements and specifications;

  • Set up and prepare construction sites for concrete work, including the assembly and installation of concrete forms, reinforcement materials, and other necessary equipment;

  • Assist in the pouring, leveling, and finishing of concrete, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project standards;

  • Place and secure reinforcement materials, such as rebar and wire mesh, within concrete forms to reinforce structures as required;

  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively, including saws, drills, and pneumatic equipment, to perform carpentry tasks;

  • Monitor concrete curing processes and take appropriate measures to protect newly poured concrete from damage or contamination;

  • Collaborate with team members, including other carpenters, laborers, and supervisors, to coordinate work activities and maximize productivity;

  • Follow safety regulations and guidelines on job sites, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to established safety protocols;

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the proper storage and disposal of materials, tools, and equipment.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in concrete carpentry or a related field, with a demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of concrete construction;

  • Strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of concrete carpentry techniques, materials, and equipment;

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings accurately;

  • Proficiency in operating hand and power tools commonly used in concrete carpentry, with a focus on safety and precision;

  • Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods;

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing work of the highest quality;

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
