WHAT WILL YOU DO

Safely operate a machine shovel to perform excavation, loading, and material handling tasks on construction sites;
Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions to determine the scope and location of excavation activities;
Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure proper functionality and report any malfunctions or defects to the appropriate personnel;
Coordinate with ground workers and construction team members to ensure the safe and efficient execution of excavation tasks
Monitor equipment operation and performance to identify and address any issues or concerns that may arise during the course of work;
Conduct pre-operation inspections of the machine shovel and associated equipment to verify proper functioning and compliance with safety standards;
Operate the machine shovel in a manner that minimizes environmental impact and avoids damage to surrounding structures, utilities, and landscaping;
Follow safety regulations and guidelines on job sites, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to established safety protocols;
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including documentation of hours worked, materials moved, and equipment maintenance activities.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU

Previous experience operating heavy machinery, specifically machine shovels, excavators, or similar equipment;
Proficiency in the safe and efficient operation of machine shovels, including knowledge of controls, functions, and safety features;
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and make minor repairs as needed;
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings;
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with other members of the construction team;
Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks that may involve long hours of sitting, standing, and operating heavy machinery;
Valid driver's license is preferable.
