WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Install electrical heat tracing systems on pipelines, tanks, and vessels according to project specifications, engineering drawings, and safety standards;

  • Select appropriate heat tracing cables, controllers, and accessories based on project requirements, temperature specifications, and environmental conditions;

  • Layout and design heat tracing circuits, determining cable lengths, routing, and spacing to achieve uniform heat distribution and maximum efficiency;

  • Mount and secure heat tracing cables onto piping, equipment, and structures using appropriate methods and materials, ensuring proper alignment and coverage;

  • Connect heat tracing cables to power sources, control panels, and temperature sensors, wiring according to electrical codes and manufacturer instructions;

  • Test and commission heat tracing systems to verify proper functionality, conducting insulation resistance tests, continuity checks, and temperature measurements;

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of heat tracing systems, including cleaning, testing, and replacing components as needed to ensure reliability and performance;

  • Troubleshoot electrical and operational issues with heat tracing systems, diagnosing root causes of failures or malfunctions, and implementing corrective actions to restore functionality;

  • Document installation activities, maintenance procedures, and inspection reports, maintaining accurate records of work performed and equipment status.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU

  • Proven experience as an electrical technician, heat tracing technician, or similar role in the installation and maintenance of electrical heat tracing systems;

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring techniques, including familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC);

  • Experience with heat tracing technologies, including self-regulating, constant wattage, and mineral insulated heat tracing cables;

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and installation manuals to understand heat tracing requirements and specifications;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, following detailed instructions and collaborating with colleagues to achieve common objectives;

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose electrical and operational issues with heat tracing systems;

  • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in outdoor environments and confined spaces;

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and project stakeholders;

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, project requirements, and site conditions, while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
