Install electrical heat tracing systems on pipelines, tanks, and vessels according to project specifications, engineering drawings, and safety standards;
Select appropriate heat tracing cables, controllers, and accessories based on project requirements, temperature specifications, and environmental conditions;
Layout and design heat tracing circuits, determining cable lengths, routing, and spacing to achieve uniform heat distribution and maximum efficiency;
Mount and secure heat tracing cables onto piping, equipment, and structures using appropriate methods and materials, ensuring proper alignment and coverage;
Connect heat tracing cables to power sources, control panels, and temperature sensors, wiring according to electrical codes and manufacturer instructions;
Test and commission heat tracing systems to verify proper functionality, conducting insulation resistance tests, continuity checks, and temperature measurements;
Perform routine maintenance and inspections of heat tracing systems, including cleaning, testing, and replacing components as needed to ensure reliability and performance;
Troubleshoot electrical and operational issues with heat tracing systems, diagnosing root causes of failures or malfunctions, and implementing corrective actions to restore functionality;
Document installation activities, maintenance procedures, and inspection reports, maintaining accurate records of work performed and equipment status.
Proven experience as an electrical technician, heat tracing technician, or similar role in the installation and maintenance of electrical heat tracing systems;
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring techniques, including familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC);
Experience with heat tracing technologies, including self-regulating, constant wattage, and mineral insulated heat tracing cables;
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and installation manuals to understand heat tracing requirements and specifications;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, following detailed instructions and collaborating with colleagues to achieve common objectives;
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose electrical and operational issues with heat tracing systems;
Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in outdoor environments and confined spaces;
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and project stakeholders;
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, project requirements, and site conditions, while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
